Our History
After years of interacting with people in food processing plants as an auditor, Alex became frustrated with being unable to offer solutions. He kept seeing the same boom and bust cycles and people bogged down by red tape. In 2013, Alex started Navigate Food Safety Solutions so he could work with companies directly to start fixing these issues from the inside out. Today, we manage a growing team who all believe in the same thing: helping people make food they can trust.



Alex is a food safety expert and former AIB auditor. Originally from Montreal, Alex has travelled the world designing, implementing and auditing best practices for food manufacturers of every size and production level. When working with customers, Alex’s approach is simple: he builds capacity at the plant level and helps the team create food safety programs they can understand and maintain. With more than 30 years experience operating businesses, including a seafood processing plant, Maureen brings her skills in business development and customer relations as Navigate's COO. Customers enjoy working with Maureen because she wants to understand their challenges and find the best solutions.



Wendy has 25+ years of analytical laboratory experience performing chemical and microbiological analyses for a wide range of food, environmental and pharmaceutical products. She attended Dalhousie University, Agricultural Division! Wendy’s strong understanding of food microbiology & chemistry and ability to easily interpret complex regulations make her a perfect fit for our Food Safety and Compliance Specialist position!

After graduating from UPEI in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Food & Nutrition and minoring in Business, Ellen's focus is customer service, training support and online training platforms. These combined experiences make Ellen a great fit for Navigate's team as Project Support.



Tatiana is a Project Manager with 20+ years of business and project management experience in the private, public and non-for-profit sectors. She brings exceptional organizational skills to optimize internal business processes and external projects.

Erin is an e-learning developer with experience creating engaging and interactive online training across various professional industries and for post-secondary institutions. She believes effective online learning combines storytelling with technology. Erin uses creativity, communication, and analytical thinking to create courses based on how all people learn, inspiring life-long learning behaviours.



Amelia studied Creative Advertising at Seneca College and has experience in digital marketing, web and graphic design. Amelia has serious chops in the video production field. She uses her experience in advertising and office management to help the team as Graphics and Video Support, with some admin thrown in!

Originally from Ecuador, Kelly came to PEI to pursue her Master's degree at the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI). Kelly is a Certified Professional in Audiovisual Communication and Multimedia. She has many years of experience as a Graphic Designer and Marketer with a demonstrated history of working for multinational companies. Her experience and skills in Branding, Video Production, and Photography make her a perfect fit as our Graphic Designer.



Originally from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Tihut came to PEI to pursue her Bachelor of Business Administration degree from University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) and graduated in 2020. Tihut’s experience with policy research, customer service, and quality assurance make her well suited for her position as Marketing Assistant.

Sheila is an accomplished accounting technician with many years of experience. She attended the University of Alberta and the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology. Sheila is detail-oriented and likes to keep busy, which makes her perfect for our Finance position.
